Frequently Asked Questions about Massage Therapy

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MASSAGE THERAPY?
The benefits vary depending on the treatment you receive; however, a typical massage improves circulation, removes waste and acid build-up in the muscles, improves sleep patterns, and induces complete physical and emotional relaxation.

WHERE WILL MY MASSAGE SESSION TAKE PLACE?
The ISW facility has a spacious massage room with adjustable lighting and calming music to provide a relaxing environment for your massage session. Mobile massages will take place on specified site.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO MASSAGE?
You will be asked to undress to your comfort level; usually only your undergarments are worn, if anything, but you will never be asked to undress any more than what you are comfortable with.

WILL I BEE COVERED FOR MY MASSAGE?
You will always be modestly draped with a sheet exposing only the area being massaged. Our massage table is heated with a fleece heating pad, dressed with a fitted and flat sheet, and has an optional blanket for added warmth.

WHAT AREAS OF MY BODY WILL BE MASSAGED?
A full body massage consists of work on the back, legs, arms, hands, feet, neck, shoulders. If time permits, the scalp and face will be included also. If you prefer to focus on certain areas, please instruct the therapist prior to your massage.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME OF MY MASSAGE?
During the session, most people just close their eyes and relax, allowing the therapist to do her work. The therapist will ask if the pressure and/or techniques are satisfactory several times during the session. She may adjust or move your arms or legs but no assistance is needed unless specifically requested.

ARE THERE ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT WOULD MAKE MASSAGE INVISIBLE?
Yes. You will complete a medical history intake form prior to your session. If you are under a doctor’s supervision or are unsure whether you should receive a massage, please consult your doctor first.
